Is fishing line good for making necklaces/beading/crafts?

No, not really. It used to be considered the best, but there are much stronger finer and more flexible alternatives to old-fashioned fishing line. Fishing line is thick, inflexible, stiff and beads strung on fishing line never hang quite right, especially long beads strands. It also breaks easily, in spite of its reputed strength. Yet some instructions on line say use fishing line, in spite of the multitude of superior options. Silamide nylon thread is far superior to fishing line, it’s fine, flexible and strong and beads strung on silamide hang nicely from the neck. There’s also several types of fine wires, some are almost as flexible as silamide. These are good for glass beads with rough edges that might cut through the cord. There’s also fireline, a stranded cord that’s UV resistant, strong, fray proof and doesn’t tangle.
